Next Tuesday, California Labor Chief Julie Su will have her nomination hearing for the number two role at the Department of Labor. In advance of the hearing, the California Business and Industrial Alliance (CABIA) is releasing a new video and report documenting Su’s mismanagement of California’s unemployment insurance system during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Pulling extensively from a state audit, the report outlines how Julie Su presided over severe operational failures at the state’s Employment Development Department, some of which directly resulted from her poor decision-making. The video highlights the voices of real Californians who struggled to access their unemployment benefits, all while billions of dollars were being sent to fraudsters throughout the state.

Now more than ever, the country needs an official at the Department of Labor who can act as a steady hand to guide us out of the pandemic. But Julie Su’s track record in California shows she is not that person.
